Chapter 9 of 10

Chronology, evidence and unresolved questions

• 6 May 1907 — Gerrit born in Oldebroek (administrative records). • 7 March 1929 — Marriage to Jannetje Fikse (family and civil compilations). • Before February 1945 — Distribution office employment and resistance involvement (1946 mayoral statement; LO and local histories). • 6 February 1945 — Spitfire TA837 forced landing near Oosterwolde (loss register and local accounts). • 13 February 1945 — Henk’s arrest and Gerrit’s detention in local narratives; LO note dates Gerrit’s arrest to this day. • 8 March 1945 — Gerrit executed at Woeste Hoeve (civil registration and official postwar records). • 15 May 1945 — Reburial at Oosterwolde (war-grave forms and funeral coverage). • 8 May 1971 — Newspaper item later identified as reporting Blair’s wife visiting Hendrik Boeve. • 28 October 2026 — New correspondence on the 1971 newspaper, RAF records and prison research. Priority open questions: obtain the original 1971 article; verify the full MI9 identifying pages and named helpers; obtain the German or Dutch arrest/prison records; clarify Gerrit Kanis’s role in identification; reconcile grave numbers and any proposed transfer; find Gerrit’s Bible; and resolve remaining timing discrepancies among the 1945, 1970 and later accounts.
